Edwin Hogervorst
Hi, my name is Edwin Hogervorst. I’ve been with BMP for about 10 years with Howard Burton.
We got in touch with BMP through a referral, which seems to happen a lot in Hong Kong. There are a lot of financial advisers, but the good ones are rare. We were referred to Howard, and he left a very good impression. So, we moved a lot of our other products into BMP.
We moved to Hong Kong from the United Kingdom, where we built up the national pension and a UK employment pension. So, there were several employers, meaning there were four different products. Howard put them all into one self-invested pension plan (SIPP). He consolidated everything into one clear product.
Howard left an impression on us that he was a very genuine and honest man. He gave us confidence that our savings were safe under Howard’s oversight.
Working with Howard is a very positive experience. He does his homework; we meet up for a small amount of time because we are quite busy with our work. So, when we show up, everything is prepared, and everything is clear. We have a discussion, and if we agree with everything, we can sign the papers. However, if we need more time or we have more questions, he answers our questions quickly, and then we can move on without much disruption to our day.
I feel good about my financial future. We’ve been saving a lot and it’s growing well. It’s by far outperforming inflation. So, if we keep doing as we are doing at the moment, and the performance of the funds and everything continues, my financial future is quite secure and I’ve got no worries when I’m turning 60 or 65 to start my retirement.
The three phrases that come to mind with BMP are trust, integrity and fund performance.
The best thing about working with Howard is the integrity of BMP. It’s great to have an adviser who you can trust, and that is very, very important.
The best piece of advice is probably to not buy a certain financial product, which I ignored. I still pay the price for that. So, if only I had listened to him a little bit better, I would be a wealthier man today.
Yes, I would recommend BMP and Howard. Actually, I’ve done so quite a few times already. Some of my colleagues went to see him. I think we are good at what we do, and that’s our own trade. But financially, we have to sometimes give it to somebody else who is good at their trade. Now, Howard is good at his trade, right? He can do the financial products and the performance of our pension way better than we can do it ourselves. He’s been in this game long enough to give sound, solid advice. I will continue to refer Howard to many of my friends and colleagues.
